Finally, after long hours of waiting Intel introduced the second generation of the Intel Core i7 processor Extreme Edition, intended for the contact area LGA2011 and working in pair with a set of system logic X79 Express. The products are aimed at enthusiasts wishing to use the computer at the limit of its capabilities, so the series processors Extreme Edition differ not only in unparalleled performance for desktop CPU, but also have advanced overclocking capabilities and extremely high price.
At the same time are coming to the market three models of "extreme" processors: intel Core i7-3960X, Core i7-3930K and Core i7-3820, the first two of which have 6 cores and are able to simultaneously perform 12 different tasks, while the latter is the 4-nuclear-8 stream pipeline. Also offer products of the working frequency and the amount of cache memory: 3960X operates at a frequency of 3.3/a 3.9 Ghz and has at its disposal a 15 Mb distributed cache L3, 3930K - 3,2/3.8 Ghz, 12 Mb, 3820 - 3,6/a 3.9 Ghz and 10 Mb. TDP all three solutions is at the level of 130 Watts.
All models are endowed with 4-channel memory controller DDR3 and support chips with a frequency 1600 Mhz, providing aggregate bandwidth at the level of 51,2 Gb/with. Also processors support XMP profiles 1.3 automatic overclocking memory, have unlocked coefficient multiplying and are endowed with Intel's Turbo Boost technology 2.0, which automatically increases the working frequency of the provided gaps cores parts, taking into account the current power dissipation and declared the threshold of energy consumption.
Processors provide support for up to 40 lines PCI Express 2.0, that is more than twice exceed this indicator desktop equivalents.
